In part of Grado working with General Mills on a project, they were nice enough to fly me out to visit their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've never been and expected a ton of snow with -5 degree weather. I went on a good week though and the temperature was a scorching 20 degrees. I probably took too many photos of the Hewing Hotel lobby (where I stayed), the food and cocktail bars were pretty great, and it was a great experience to visit Faribault Wool, a company with a heritage similar to ours.
With rental keys in hand, I drove up to Boston to see an old roommate for his birthday weekend. I didn't expect to take any photos but brought my camera just in case. Who could've guessed that the Steward Isabelle Gardner Museum would have such an attractive garden?
New York Japanese restaurant Morimoto recently contacted me about doing some photography for their new website, and I won't turn down something that combines food and photos. I visited in between lunch and dinner service, photographing prep, chefs, and the space. That sea bass was something else.
I flew to San Fransciso with the intent of driving down to Big Sur and camping for a weekend. Unfortunately it was completely closed due to a forest fire. It was replaced with a shorter day trip up to Point Reyeas, food, and walking into SF City Hall and unexpectedly ending up in three separate wedding parties. And more food.
